A soccer referee has been critically injured after being attacked by a 17-year-old player angry about a call made during the game, police said.
Violence broke out in a Campeonato Amazonense match between Iranduba and Sao Raimundo-AM in Brazil. Globo reports that Iranduba’s Derlan made an insulting gesture to the referee after he was given a yellow card. The fourth official alerts the referee and out comes the red card for Derlan. This incenses the player into a rage and he snaps.
